Cabinet card, full-length standing portrait of an African American man wearing a fraternal lodge uniform and regalia, with a sword tucked in his belt. The subject rests his hand on an ornately carved side table. Boston: Walter E. Chickering, ca last quarter 19th century. -- Photographic portrait on cello of an African American freemason at center, surrounded by masonic symbols, including square and compass, trowel, and gavel. 7 3/4 x 6 in. overall.

Chickering cabinet card: light surface soiling, some edge and corner wear. Cello portrait: some wear to surface.
